Largest Bottega Veneta flagship store opens up in China


From crafted storefront to handles carved in pure leather, from tailor made luxury to palm wood and steel interiors. From suede walls to mohair embellished furniture. Kept in natural, muted and matte and in accents of brown and tan, the fourth Bottega Veneta shop in Shanghai is here to mesmerize. The Italian luxury label belonging to the PPR group recently opened its fourth flagship store in Shanghai and it’s the biggest yet in China, occupying a sprawling 21 stores or 530 square meters stretched over 2 floors. Situated in Bund, a famous, historic quarter of Shanghai and nestled within Yifeng Galleria shopping center, a house that caters exclusively with fashion and luxury brands, this store might make you feel a bit lost. The first level houses exclusively the brand’s products: handbags, luggage, men’s and women’s ready-to-wear, as well as footwear, eyewear and small leather goods and accessories.

Sky High champers with the Peninsula Hong Kong


Launched with sister company Heliservice, the Peninsula Hong Kong is now offering a one-if-its-kind Sky high Champagne Breakfast for its guests. After a sumptuous champagne brunch at the The China Clipper, guests will be whisked away to the hotel’s twin rooftop helipads, where they will be escorted on board an Aerospatiale twin-engine Squirrel AS355N for an exhilarating eight-minute helicopter ride. With its wraparound windows, the helicopter can soar high above the heart of Hong Kong, offering passengers a bird’s eye view of Hong Kong’s magnificent landscape, followed by a sweep over Happy Valley, with full aerial views of the racetrack, and on to North Point for a photo opportunity of the Kowloon and Hong Kong panorama, before you head back to The Peninsula’s rooftop. Priced at HK$1,388 per person, the Sky High Champagne Breakfast includes a gourmet breakfast with a glass of Champagne and helicopter flight (maximum of five passengers per flight) and is available from now till June 24, with flights taking off from 9:45am to 10:45am!

InterContinental opens its first five-star hotel in Tangshan

InterContinental Tangshan will be the first international five -star hotel in Tangshanas it opened doors to public last week. The InterContinental Tangshan sits in the heart of the city directly facing the Tangshan Seismic Memorial and Dazhao Park. Hilton opens 2nd property in Nanjing: the Hilton Nanjing Riverside

Hilton Hotels & Resorts have announced the opening of its second hotel in Nanjing with the 411-room Hilton Nanjing Riverside, in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River. The hotel, with its urban-resort feel features 411 spacious, contemporary guest rooms and suites, many of which offer a private balcony with views over the Yangtze River, spacious bathrooms and walk-in closets, along with generous work spaces and high-speed internet access. Located just seven kms from the Central Business District and 45 kms from the Nanjing Lukou International Airport, the hotel expects to see a lot of corporate guests. Catering to their needs the hotel will feature state-of-the-art conference and event facilities with 16 versatile meeting rooms and a unique oval-shaped 1,100-sq m pillar-less Grand Ballroom. There is also a business center and the convenience of wireless internet access throughout the hotel.

Andaz Shanghai makes its Chinese debut


Hyatt has launched its Andaz brand in China with the Andaz Shanghai. The 307-room property opened to the public on October 18. The hotel also marks the entry of the Andaz brand into Asia. With rooms over looking the historical Xintiandi district, the hotel features mixed media artwork designed to evoke the old and new sides of the area, using items such as LED lighting, sensors, video projections and recycled materials.

The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai becomes the Best Hotel in the World


It’s no small feat, bagging a title like that! And while we haven’t stayed at The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, but know the Ritz-Carlton brand enough to say, we aren’t surprised. The readers of Condé Nast Traveler magazine in the US clearly agree and have named The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong, China the ‘Best Hotel In The World’ in its 24th annual Readers Choice Awards for 2011. Two top awards were bestowed upon the hotel in one evening, Best Hotel in Asia Pacific, and Best Hotel in the World and collecting the award on behalf of the hotel was The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company president, Herve Humler.

Banyan Tree now brings its luxurious service for gamers in Macau


A new Banyan Tree has opened doors in Macau within the $2 billion Galaxy Macau resort complex, brining more luxury for gamers. The all-suite resort offers a relaxation pool in every room and the brand’s signature villas situated beside the resort’s unique rooftop wave pool. The resort has been “designed to be the city’s first five-star urban resort,” according to Banyan Tree Holdings executive chairman Ho Kwon Ping.

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company announces two new luxury properties in China


The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company strengthened its position as the largest and fastest-growing luxury hotel company in China with the development of two new Ritz-Carlton hotels in China – The Ritz-Carlton, Wuhan and The Ritz-Carlton, Dalian. The Ritz-Carlton, Wuhan will be located at the top of the 606-meter-high Wuhan Greenland Center, while The Ritz-Carlton, Dalian will occupy floors 64-81 of the 518-meter-high Dalian Greenland Center – both will be the tallest buildings in each city. Scheduled to open in 2016, the 330-roomThe Ritz-Carlton, Wuhan will be located in the center of the Wuchang Binjiang CBD. The property will be an ideal choice for business travelers with more than 2,500 sq m of meeting space, while those looking to relax can take advantage of a heath club, pool and spa. Dining outlets include a 170-seat three-meal restaurant and a 150-seat Chinese restaurant, with 12 exquisite private dining rooms. The hotel will also have a lobby lounge capable of hosting 70 guests and a 50-seat Ritz-Carlton Bar with views over the city. In addition, a restaurant on the 119th floor – the very top of the building, encased in a glass dome will allow diners to enjoy meals at an elevation of 545 m. The Ritz-Carlton, Dalian sits in the heart of Dalian’s Donggang CBD, The 300-room hotel will form part of a mix-use development and will offer a variety of restaurants bars and other facilities to its luxury guests. The two new developments will be destinations in their own right in both Wuhan and Dalian and will be a mark of luxury in both the fast growing cities.

Naked Retreat offers eco-friendly getaways at its new Shanghai luxury resort


We have had one look at these images and were instantly transported to paradise. Don’t be fooled by the term ‘naked’, which represents the resort’s “naked” weekend getaway that will transport its guests to experience nature at its raw, untouched naked best, while enjoying a natural, organic lifestyle. Guests will experience eating locally grown foods, drinking mountain spring water, getting around on foot and taking baths in a bamboo forest. Naked Resorts has been offering environmentally friendly accommodation and cultural immersion programs in Moganshan since four years, and will now offer these naked weekend getaways when they open its second getaway in China: naked Stables Private Reserve, this October. The naked Stables Private Reserve is set in a 60-acre, private valley at the foot of Moganshan. The company calls the new resort China’s first sustainable luxury wellness resort and equestrian reserve. The new reserve will offer freestanding villas in a pine forest, with panoramic views of pine trees and Moganshan ranges, forty newly built huts amid Moganshan’s bamboo forest, an equestrian center with 20 horses, in addition to an equestrian field and mountain trails, an 80-seat Afro-Asian restaurant, Kikaboni (which means “organic” in Swahili), overlooking a reservoir, a 750-sq-m wellness and spa center, partially hidden on stilts amid the tranquility of a bamboo forest.

China remodels a Russian aircraft carrier into luxury hotel


There’s never a dearth of unique hotel projects and with China showing an insatiable demand for luxury products and services, a unique new project will now see a former Soviet Aircraft Carrier being revamped into a luxury hotel. The Binhai Aircraft Park has bought the Kiev carrier from the Russian government and will soon be turned into China’s first aircraft carrier hotel. The ship will get rid of its sparse trappings and come fitted with luxury accommodations. The owners believe that China’s burgeoning role as a world superpower (the nation recently launched its first aircraft carrier) will spur interest in the floating hotel.
