Emirates includes the largest in-flight HD enabled display screens on aircraft

Emirates Airlines has been previously hailed for providing top-of-the-line in-flight entertainment. The airline has now gone a step ahead to entertain its passengers, packing its aircraft with 12.1-inch seat-back television screens in the economy class, the largest used in the aviation industry today! That’s not all. Those travelling by premium classes are in for a bigger treat, with the airline including 27-inch displays in the First Class and 20-inch screens in the Business Class! The screens, manufactured by leading electronics maker Panasonic, support High Definition content and will be hooked on to a new GUI developed together by Emirates and Panasonic for a hassle-free experience.

Largest Bottega Veneta flagship store opens up in China

From crafted storefront to handles carved in pure leather, from tailor made luxury to palm wood and steel interiors. From suede walls to mohair embellished furniture. Kept in natural, muted and matte and in accents of brown and tan, the fourth Bottega Veneta shop in Shanghai is here to mesmerize. The Italian luxury label belonging to the PPR group recently opened its fourth flagship store in Shanghai and it’s the biggest yet in China, occupying a sprawling 21 stores or 530 square meters stretched over 2 floors. Situated in Bund, a famous, historic quarter of Shanghai and nestled within Yifeng Galleria shopping center, a house that caters exclusively with fashion and luxury brands, this store might make you feel a bit lost. The first level houses exclusively the brand’s products: handbags, luggage, men’s and women’s ready-to-wear, as well as footwear, eyewear and small leather goods and accessories.

JW Marriott’s Dark Room by Belvedere will wow celebs attending the 65th Cannes Film Festival

In honour of the 65th Cannes Film Festival taking up quarters at JW Marriott, an after party named “Dark Room” will be taking place, unveiling an area as a Studio Shoot, a terrace bar concept and a gallery lounge during the period May 16-27, 2012. The event dubbed “Dark Room by Belvedere” taking place in JW Marriott, one of the premier luxury suite hotels in Cannes will have a Studio Shoot made available to personalities and leaders in Cannes by photographer Eric Mercier. The opulent JW Marriott La Croisette Cannes hotel will also host Belvedere Vodka’s Terrace Bar Concept dedicated to cocktail tasting comprising of five mixes aptly named, “The Dark Room”, “The Master”, “The Argentique”, “The Flash” and “The Negative”, all of which will add special charm to the event.

Virgin Atlantic to provide the first in-flight mobile service in air in Britain

Virgin Atlantic is soaring high with the introduction of its new Upper Class suite on Airbus A330 planes. Raise a toast with Richard Branson-shaped ice cubes to Virgin Atlantic being the the first airline in Britain to offer full mobile access in the air. Earlier we did mention that Upper Class suite is equipped with AeroMobile system that allows passengers to make and receive cell phone calls in flight. But today we have more details to it. Along with making calls, fliers will also be able to access web and send text messages when the service will be available. The A330’s London to New York route will be the first to feature this service followed by other 17 planes on at least ten routes by the year end. And such a high-flying connectivity service will not come at sky-rocketing prices as it will cost the same as normal roaming charges that exist on land.

Christie’s to open Art Exhibition at JW Marriott Cannes ahead of its big auction

If you are in Cannes to witness the 65th annual Cannes Film Festival, then do make some time for checking out some rare art by famous artists such Picasso, Warhol, Kandinsky, and Basquiat to be at the JW Marriott Hotel Cannes. Louis Vuitton beckons jet-setters with its first airport store in South Korea

Louis Vuitton marked its impression today in the airline shopping market with their first-ever airport store, at Incheon International Airport in South Korea, in collaboration with The Shilla Duty Free. Spanning to over 550 square meters, the shop will feature leather goods, women’s and men’s shoes, watches, belts, ties, textiles, fashion jeweler, sunglasses, watches and other accessories.

After acquiring a fleet of eight 777 Freighters from Boeing and four 777-300ER, that came at about a stunning $3.3 billion, that will fly between Asia and U.S., here is a quick view of what Asia Cathay Pacific Airways business class looks like. The seats sport a wing-back chair to give flyers a private area, to enjoy conversations and ensure complete privacy thanks to the simple slide of a wall. Used Luxury shopping bags actually sell in Korea

Counterfeit is synonymous to everything branded, and that is old news. What is new, however, is a black market for luxury shopping bags. Korea seems to be confused with their fashion preferences and seem to be infatuated with branded paper bags of brands like Louis Vuitoon, Cartier, Prada, Burberry, Calvin Klein, etc. Some of these bags are retailing for as much as $30! This seems to be a growing trend too!

Marriott signs up for New York’s largest new hotel project

Marriott International has teamed up with Granite Broadway Development for a multi-million dollar project that will rise up to 68-story making it the tallest by-it-self hotel building for lodging only. Located at 54th Street, the Courtyard and Residence Inn Manhattan/Central Park will include a 378-room Courtyard by Marriott hotel and a 261-room Residence Inn by Marriott hotel. The New York Times justifies the tallest title by reporting that the new Marriott building is expected to reach almost 753 feet which is higher than the 682 feet high Four Seasons Hotel on the 57th Street. Slated to open before 2013, the lobby of the Courtyard will boast of a 55-inch interactive touch screen GoBoard where guests can update themselves with local information and news headlines.
