The Eloise Suite at the Plaza Hotel now open

Designed by celebrated fashion designer Betsey Johnson, the one-of-a-kind, Eloise Suite is now open at the Plaza Hotel. Johnson, who is practically a resident at the famous hotel designed the suite after Eloise, the irreverent and irrepressible fictional heroine of Kay Thompson’s classic book. The suite oozes luxury with a touch of whimsical fantasy. The Eloise’s suite is located on the 18th floor of the Plaza and comprises of two rooms – one for erstwhile young Eloises and one for their parents – both resplendent in an Eloise-approved palette of pink, pink, pink and some black. Some of the highlights include: a signature Plaza chandelier fitted with pink bulbs for a rosy-glow stay, candy striped pink and wite wall panels outlined with gold leaf molding, a white zebra-print carpets, a King-size bed made up with custom-designed bedding depicting images of Eloise, a sparkly padded pink headboard and nearby ottoman, and Eloise’s name scrawled in neon lights affixed to the wall above. Original Hilary Knight prints adorn the walls while a disposable Eloise camera is available for guests to snap away every nook and corner of their stay. Other essentials like a wall-mounted flat screen TV and DVD player, Eloise DVDs and books, a tea set and Eloise and Weenie dolls, Eloise robes and towels are also available. We say essentials since they ought to be when you’re staying in an Eloise suite! With Eloise fitting and fixtures in place, next up is the Eloise experience! Upon arrival, guests get a dedicated Eloise Ambassador, who escorts them to the Suite where they may sign the official guest book and have their photo taken, which is framed and given to the guest as a memento of the experience at turndown. In the spring, a tea room will be open for tea parties. The space can also be used to reserve space for birthday parties and get-togethers. The plates in the Tea Party room were specially designed by a local artist.
Rates for the Eloise Suite start at $995 per night and include a monogrammed Eloise bathrobe, a $100 gift card to the Eloise shop, an Eloise camera, a framed photo of the guest inside the suite and an Eloise book. For parents who’d like a more ‘grown-up’ room, there is the option to book an adjoining Edwardian Suite, which includes both champagne and truffles. Rates start at $2,045 per night for this two-bedroom option.
If you still want more Eloise souvenirs to take home, head to the Eloise shop, again dressed in pink décor and carpets adorned with words taken from the “Eloise” books written by Kay Thompson. Various merchandise items, including T-shirts, sweatshirts, hats and tutus, are available at the Eloise shop.
