Hotel Grand Pacific Le Daiba has spent about 10 million yen to convert a 84-square-meter two-room suite (around 900 square feet) into a very special Gundam-themed suite for fans of the popular Japanese anime series. The hotel in collaboration with the Gundam Front Tokyo complex is next to the life-size, 1:1 Gundam statue. The only disappointment is that the statue will not be viewable from the themed room, despite the hotel being so close. The “Room-G, special type” guestroom decorated with paintings, cutouts, the bedding, room keys and other items featuring the anime characters.

Asia’s Largest Cruise Liner Voyager of the Seas arrives in Korea


Asia’s largest cruise ship Voyager of the Seas, arrived in Jeju Island on Saturday. The ship was carrying 3,470 passengers, including 3,120 Chinese tourists. More than 80 buses were required to shuttle them through the southern resort island — a number so big that half of the tour guides had to be hired from other parts of the country. The visitors spent six hours touring the island, including Seongsan Sunrise Peak and Jungmun Tourist Complex in Seogwipo city, and Yongduam, a volcanic rock shaped like a dragon’s head in Jeju city, before shopping at the duty free shop.

Asia’s largest cruise ship Voyager of the Seas docks in Shanghai


The world’s leading cruise brand, Royal Caribbean International, is targeting the Chinese market, where it might cooperate more broadly with domestic companies, including work on ship renovation and maintenance. The largest cruise ship in Asia, Royal Caribbean’s Voyager of the Seas, arrived at the Shanghai Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal on Tuesday to start its summer cruise itinerary. The ship will sail to Japan and South Korea. Tickets for the maiden voyage sold out months in advance. Many other sailings are being offered by travel agencies.

Virgin Atlantic to provide the first in-flight mobile service in air in Britain


Virgin Atlantic is soaring high with the introduction of its new Upper Class suite on Airbus A330 planes. Raise a toast with Richard Branson-shaped ice cubes to Virgin Atlantic being the the first airline in Britain to offer full mobile access in the air. Earlier we did mention that Upper Class suite is equipped with AeroMobile system that allows passengers to make and receive cell phone calls in flight. But today we have more details to it. Along with making calls, fliers will also be able to access web and send text messages when the service will be available. The A330’s London to New York route will be the first to feature this service followed by other 17 planes on at least ten routes by the year end. And such a high-flying connectivity service will not come at sky-rocketing prices as it will cost the same as normal roaming charges that exist on land.

The Swissotel chain of hotels is taking your fitness seriously as it launches fitness equipment in guest rooms in hotels around the world. The hotel company launched its ‘Vitality’ program, in an effort to encourage guests to stay healthy on the road, will allow guests to order gym equipments to be set up in their rooms. Equipment options include a Swiss ball, Aero Step, yoga mats, Thera-Bands, or Pilates rings. For those who prefer outdoors activities, the hotel company can now arrange guided walks or jogging tours, as well as games evenings featuring Chess contests, Scrabble, Monopoly and backgammon to encourage ‘mental fitness’.
